On September 19, at 1:00 p.m. Kyiv time, a presentation of the publication and results of the study “Ukrainian refugees in European countries: barriers, ways to overcome and best practices. Situational analysis on prevention and treatment of HIV infection and tuberculosis”. The document was prepared by the Regional Expert Group on the Health of Migrants.
In the study, the authors set themselves the goal of analyzing the barriers to access to treatment for HIV infection and tuberculosis that refugees face in host countries and to characterize ways to overcome these barriers. The text describes examples of projects effective in improving access to services and treatment with the participation of formal and informal agents, public sector organizations and civil society, which demonstrate the solidarity and openness of countries to refugees from Ukraine.
During the presentation, researchers who collected material in Germany, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland and France will present their main conclusions. In addition, recommendations and next steps to improve refugees’ and migrants’ access to HIV and TB services in host countries are planned.
“This study can contribute to the formulation of recommendations and the definition of best practices for the creation of programs for the organization of treatment of socially significant diseases in the countries receiving refugees, – the authors are convinced and emphasize that the presentation will be interesting to specialists in the field of health care. – We invite experts who participate in the organization of access to health care for refugees in European countries.”
The study is published in three language versions – Ukrainian, English and Russian. The full text of the study will be sent to all registered participants.
