The regional report on human rights violations against LGBT people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) for 2024 is an analytical document based on data from seven countries: Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.
Since 2017, the organization ECOM has been monitoring and documenting human rights violations against lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and trans* people. The analysis of recorded cases of violations of the right to health helps identify both common regional issues and country-specific challenges. Additionally, the research captures informal practices that may remain unnoticed during policy development and evaluation.
The main objectives of the analysis are:
- To determine the nature of human rights violations against LGBT people in the EECA region.
- To identify the root causes of these violations, as well as the impact of legislation and its enforcement.
- To develop recommendations for eliminating existing barriers and using the collected data for LGBT rights advocacy.
