Webinar “Community involvement at the stage of grant allocation under GC7”

On Thursday, June 22, at 4:00 p.m. Kyiv, there will be a webinar on how to engage communities during the grant-making phase of the Global Fund’s GC7. The webinar is hosted by six regional community, rights and gender platforms (as part of the Global Fund’s Strategic Initiative for Community Engagement).

The purpose of the webinar is to prepare community representatives to participate in their country’s grant-making process as part of the Global Fund’s 7th grant cycle. This process begins immediately after receiving feedback from the Technical Review Panel (TRP) and continues until grants are signed. Community engagement is critical at this stage of the funding process, but there are often barriers to meaningful involvement. This webinar will present new requirements and recommendations and demonstrate how communities in the three countries are preparing to participate in this process.

Topics covered in the webinar will include:

  • Overview of the Global Fund’s Minimum Expectations for Community Engagement during the Grantmaking Phase (Svetlana Dupree, Access2Funding Department at the Global Fund Secretariat)
  • Make or Break: How Civil Society and Communities Can Engage in Global Fund Grantmaking in Grant Cycle 7 – A New Guide for Communities (Mary Ann Torres, ICASO)
  • Case Study Burkina Faso: Community Participation in Grantmaking (Issoufou Tiendrebeogo, Association African Solidarity [AAS]).
  • Case Study Venezuela: Community participation in grant making (speaker to be confirmed).
  • The Pakistan example: community participation in grant making (Asghar Satti, PLHIV).
  • Questions & Answers and Discussion

Language: English with simultaneous interpretation into Russian and several other languages.
