Beyond the Statistics: Ukrainian Refugees Living with HIV in the Nordic and Baltic Countries — a webinar on realities and needs

HivNorway, Positiiviset ry / HivFinland and the Alliance for Public Health (Ukraine) invite you to the webinar “Beyond the Statistics: Ukrainian Refugees Living with HIV in the Nordic and Baltic Countries.” The webinar will take place on Thursday, February 26, at 2:00 p.m. (CEST).

Speakers from Poland and the Baltic countries will also join the discussion. Participants will gain expert insights and practical perspectives from specialists and civil society activists working on HIV and support for refugees.

After Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, millions of people were forced to flee Ukraine. Behind the refugee statistics are real individuals adapting to new societies, languages, and healthcare systems. What are the realities and needs of Ukrainians living with HIV in the Nordic and Baltic countries?

Programme

  • Pavlo Smyrnov (Alliance for Public Health, Ukraine) — the current situation of people living with HIV in Ukraine.
  • Mariia Ralko (HelpNowHUB Foundation) — grassroots support for Ukrainian refugees living with HIV in Poland.
  • Armen Aghajanov (BaltHUB) — cross-border cooperation and the RefAid initiative supporting Ukrainian refugees living with HIV in the Baltic countries.

The webinar is held within the project “Integrated Health Services in Times of War: Experiences from Ukraine,” supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The event will be useful for healthcare professionals, refugee health specialists, social workers, politicians, journalists, decision-makers, civil society representatives, and human rights activists.
